We welcome our readers on pages of the blog iCover! Sometimes amendments which even the leading profile analysts are not always capable to foresee are introduced in the measured course of events and business plans of transatlantic megacorporations. It seems that the similar situation took and continues to take place from Google which declared transition in the future Android N version to the OpenJDK platform. With high probability this event is connected with the patent lawsuit staying in an active stage with the Oracle company in the next claim of the last though representatives of Google refused to give official confirmation to it.

In December of last year the Google company announced start of sales of the Pixel C tablet computer. For the purpose of promoting of a product the design team addressed the Reddit resource on it in which format the question/answer organized dialog with the potential users. During discussion developers concerned a subject all the expected new Android N version, partially slightly opened a veil of secrecy and blabbed out that in a new firmware the mnogookonnost mode has to appear. Here it is worth remembering that rumors about plans of Google concerning such innovation appeared to Android 6.0 release.

Besides, during discussion developers casually mentioned that works on integration of support of DisplayPort via the USB connector Type-C conduct though to guarantee that this functionality will be present at Android N providently not of steel. It is very probable that emergence of the mode of a mnogookonnost and support of DisplayPort will give the chance to use devices under control of Android as the full-fledged PC by analogy with the Continuum function in Windows 10 Mobile.

"We work on a set of innovations for "N". Certainly, we would like that you learned about them still yesterday. But then the fact of a surprise would disappear. As for the mnogookonnost mode, now it is in a stage of active development" — Andrey Bauers (Andrew Bowers), the unit manager on development of consumer equipment of Google shared. So, all details about specifics of the called innovations which appeared in Android N to us will become known only during conference of developers of Google I/O 2016.

But, a possibility of emergence of analog of the Continuum function and the mode of a mnogookonnost in the updated Android N neither the only, nor the most large-scale surprise which promises Google. The patent fights unrolled between Oracle and Google that now is precisely known caused transition from Open Source of implementation Apache Harmony in the current application versions on OpenJDK (the open Java Development Kit version) in the future Android N version.

As appears from periodically arriving, often inconsistent information, began preparation for such transition of Google at the end of February, 2015. Now plans of the company were officially confirmed what told in the article after interview with representatives of the company the VentureBeat resource in more detail about:

"… Update on December 30: Google followed up today to clarify some of the details the company explained to us before we wrote this article. As a result, headline has been corrected to more accurately reflect the story. While Google is moving away from its own implementation (using Apache Harmony-based libraries) to use OpenJDK libraries as its foundation for the standard Java libraries, company is still making changes to OpenJDK to make it work on Android. As a result, future versions of Android will continue to contain parts of Google's "own implementation", just based on OpenJDK."

"In the subsequent Android (N) version we intend to refuse the proprietary programming interfaces Java (API) for benefit of OpenJDK on which specialists of Google work already for a long time, managed to make rather big contribution and intend to work in this direction in the future" – the representative of Google designated the official version of the reason according to which such decision was made. According to official representatives of Google, transition to the open OpenJDK platform will happen regardless of a judgment. It will allow Google not to be afraid of new legal claims in the future and to simplify development process of applications.

To give an unambiguous assessment to how now obvious transition to OpenJDK will be reflected in system operation still prematurely. Most likely, such outcome will be positively apprehended by vast majority of software developers and will remain almost unnoticed by ordinary users. The opinion that transition to the OpenJDK platform is directly connected with judicial proceedings with Oracle developing yet not for benefit of Google in the company was refused to be commented.
