According to the forecast of specialists from Technology university Lappeenranta (Finland), in 15 years Russia has every chance to become the leader in use of renewable energy in on the Euroasian continent. According to the estimates of scientists, creation in Eurasia of the system, for 100% using "pure" energy will cost approximately twice cheaper, than construction of the necessary number of nuclear power stations of similar total power.
According to specialists, the system will be the most effective at consolidation as it is possible bigger number of regions of Eurasia in the power pool system. The more power networks will be united in one "supernetwork", the less there will be a need for the buffer gears intended for accumulation and storage of excess energy. Besides, calculations for model were made of the assumption that instead of use of natural gas of the enterprise will pass to the gas extracted due to the electricity received from renewable sources (for example, on the hydrogen extracted from water).
In research use only parts of energy which goes for receipt of electricity and on the industrial purposes was considered by that, and such things as heating and transport were not considered. Research was conducted for studying of opportunities of use of renewable energy resources on the Euroasian continent.
"According to our data, it is the first model evaluating characteristics of 100% of renewable energy for Russia and Central Asia, - professor Christian Breyer [Christian Breyer], one of authors of work explained. – Follows from model that Russia can become one of the most competitive regions of the world in the field of renewable energy".
The model constructed by scientists uses different sources of renewable energy. About 60% of all energy in it are made at the expense of wind, other 40% are evenly distributed between solar energy, use of fuel biomass and hydroelectric power stations. Total power of model of a power generating system makes 550 GW.
According to researchers, the power of the integrated power generating systems of Russia and Central Asia makes 388 GW from which only 1,5 GW (less than 0,4%) are the share of a share of wind and solar energy. By data of 2008, the total power of which power generating systems of the CIS countries are capable was in the region of 300 GW.
By calculations of scientists, except reduction of a total cost of system in comparison with use of the NPP, approximately the final cost of the electric power also will have to decrease by 20%.
Now the fundamentals of the Russian power industry are made by about 600 power plants with a total power of 210 GW working as a part of UES of Russia. About 61% of power provide thermal power stations, 21% — hydroelectric power stations, 17% — atomic. Less than 1% are the share of model solar and wind power plants.
Scientists from Technology university Lappeenranta deal with issues of use of renewable energy long ago. In 2012 Lappeenranta was developed by University together with the city administration the concept according to which small households will have an opportunity to transfer excess solar energy from the panels in the centralized city power network.
