The Solid State Drive technology gradually develops. The volume of drives increases, the cost, $/GB gradually decreases, and reliability of such devices increases. On CES 2016 at once several vendors showed the last achievements in this sphere. The OCZ Technology group, part of Toshiba Group Company, at this exhibition showed new model of the drive — RevoDrive 400 NVMe PCI Express SSD.
Performance of the device is rather big. So, OCZ used the NVMe technology for improvement of indicators of reading/record. In the new drive the X4 PCI Express interface by means of which SSD is connected to the motherboard is used.

We welcome our readers on pages of the blog iCover! As the representative of the Samsung company said in the interview VentureBeat, the slot of microSD which became to already usual users which will support maps with a capacity up to 200 GB will return to the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge models again. Most likely, such measure was forced, after studying of Samsung of reaction of the admirers who in general negatively apprehended lack of the slot and the removable battery in Galaxy S6-S6 Edge.
We will tell about what else interesting, according to the version of the VentureBeat portal is prepared by Samsung in new models which official announcement will take place already very soon below.
2 years, 11 months ago Roddenberri's computer (now does not work) and its diskettes (a photo: DriveSavers)
The DriveSavers company the other day published the press release according to which the staff of the company managed to recover data from about 200 old diskettes. In it there would be nothing remarkable if not that carriers belonged to the creator of Star Trek Gene Roddenberri. Diskettes after Roddenberri's death were all the time at his successor. The recovered information was provided to it, in the Network nothing was spread.
Nevertheless, DriveSavers reports that on diskettes there were records of the author, he used them for saving of ideas, scenarios and notes. The volume of each diskette made 160 CBs, and they were used last time somewhere in the eighties the last century.
Last year the Samsung corporation provided the first portable SSD disk, Portable SSD T1. Now the South Korean company provided more capacious model, exceeding the previous option in several parameters. At the same time, Portable SSD T3 has and much in common with the predecessor. For example, vertical NAND (V-NAND) memory is here too used thanks to what speeds of reading/record reach an indicator in 450 Mbps.
In spite of the fact that the device is slightly more than predecessor, it still can be placed in a pocket — there are no problems with portability. To t3 it will be available in several modifications, with a capacity of 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB.

Hi everyone! We continue a cycle of articles devoted to evolution of information mediums. We already told about punched cards, magnetic films and diskettes. Besides, we traced development of optical drives. And this time our material will be devoted to the most usual for us to devices – hard drives.
2 years, 12 months agoHi, Giktayms! Despite a popular belief that solid-state drives are an achievement of technologies of the last ten-fifteen years, the first devices of this kind appeared in 1978 in the USA. The StorageTek company (nowadays already nonexistent) became the first vendor of the drive on semiconductors with use of a volatile memory. What else occurred from the moment of emergence of SSD — read under a cat.
The first hard drive was released in the history by the IBM company in far 1956, and by the beginning of the 1980th HDD of steel of the main a data storage device for all types of computers. Someone says that winchesters became outdated and time to replace them with much more effective SSD came. But in reality the "outdated" technology did not settle the potential yet. According to the Seagate Technology company, winchesters will not leave the market of 15-20 more years. To adapt to modern requirements, in hard drives a number of the innovation technologies will be implemented.

Hi, Geektimes! Myths of Ancient Greece have a rest in comparison with into what delusion buyers of modern solid-state drives are entered. Many continue to transfer what was actual even during emergence of SSD in the market and developments of this technology also to modern products. Let's deal together with these numerous discussions and we will try to put the end to the questions concerning SSD.
From where in general these myths appeared? One believe that it is connected with feature of thinking of consumers who suffer from shortage of up-to-date information on the matter. Others consider that in it there is a certain element of conservatism — a pier, the computer works at HDD, well and it is good. Such users for the unclear reasons in the last queue think of replacement of the drive at an upgrade of the computer. Generally, anyway, myths concerning SSD for several years collected much. Therefore they need to be dispelled that we also will try to make.

In the modern world where it is necessary to move, work much in different parts of the world or simply often to change equipment within a short period of time, it would always be reasonable to have at itself all necessary personal information. It is convenient when information nearby, and the device saving it absolutely reliably and at the same time is compact. And the most important that the selected gadget did not differ in a small stock of memory, a multimedia information array grows as quickly as shopping centers in the large cities. Solutions for flexible data storage, of course are also they are rather various. We welcome you in the blog iCover. Today we will tell of the most popular method of storage – external HDD, this time from the Lacie company: the protected LaCie Rugged Triple on 2TB and beautiful Porsche Design P' 9230 on 1TB.
The normal user, when there is a need to purchase the microSD format memory stick, especially does not reflect. The user goes to shop of electronics and speaks "give me the memory stick microSD". What? Yes all the same, memory stick and all here.
But actually characteristics of memory sticks of the same format can be very different — I think, on Geektimes it does not need to be explained. But it if cards of different classes. And what if to take cards, equal on a class? Let's look at results of a benchmark of different memory sticks (the list of small, only 5 pieces). It is clear, that it would be incorrect to compare cards of different classes therefore Class 10 is taken.
